Position Overview:
The Operations Manager will be a part of the Group Operations & Maintenance Team in Houston and will be responsible for supporting the organizational business transformation to an EPCIO model.
The Operations Manager serves as a critical bridge between project development and long-term asset performance. You will drive operational excellence by integrating O&M requirements into the tendering phase, ensuring that technical specifications align with lifecycle integrity. By fostering seamless collaboration between corporate, project, and shipyard teams, you will mitigate operational risks and champion Hanwha Ocean’s strategic goals in digitalization, HSE, and sustainable asset management. This role will facilitate communication among stakeholders, enabling smooth coordination between corporate, project, and shipyard teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Commercial / Tenders:
- Provide O&M assistance in reviewing tender documentation to help identify operational and maintenance requirements.
- Lead O&M functions in preparing technical inputs and operational considerations for tender submissions.
- Consolidate information from different departments to ensure O&M perspectives are captured.
- Provide assistance to commercial team in drafting responses to client clarifications under guidance from O&M functions.
- Analyze & gather data on risks, opportunities, and lifecycle impacts for evaluation by the team.
2. Operations Readiness (OR) Management
- Support O&M team for OR activities both in Houston & on site / shipyard as required.
- Serve as the focal point for all OR activities and liaise between HO Project & group O&M team.
- Support Construction team with O&M review of the test procedures and documentation of punch list items.
- Manage the O&M Comments register and follow up with close out of action items with all disciplines
- Prepare daily reports of O&M support and project milestones
- Responsible for Operations readiness team on site and through the project locations
3. Asset Integrity & Digital Technology
- Support in development of Asset Integrity initiatives for the O&M team
- Develop the Maintenance management model to align with Project & Engineering design basis.
- Support in reviewing cost inputs, operational assumptions, and resource requirements during operations readiness phase.
- Support Digital Team in implementation of O&M initiatives and preparation of the use cases
- Liaise with project & engineering disciplines to ensure adoption of O&M Asset Integrity & maintenance philosophies
4. Budget and Resource Management
- Support the preparation of O&M budgets and cost estimates, cost inputs, operational assumptions, and resource requirements.
- Assist in tracking actual versus planned expenditures and highlight variances for follow-up by the team.
- Provide support in consolidating cost information.
- Prepare reports, summaries, and presentations related to operational costs and budgeting.
- Support analyses of cost drivers, lifecycle impacts, and opportunities for efficiency improvements.
- Help ensure that budget and cost-related processes comply with company policies and reporting standards.
5. Training & Development:
- Develop & implement training & competency framework of FPSO operations, systems, and processes as required per management system.
- Share and replicate operational training framework with the IT/Enterprise team for worldwide operations team development.
- Promote an operational mindset by encouraging best practices, adherence to procedures, and practical application of lessons learned.
- Support the onboarding and mentoring of colleagues by providing guidance on operational standards and processes.
- Actively contribute to building a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the O&M organization.
- Develop toward becoming a fully integrated Operations Manager within the O&M team, contributing to long-term operational excellence.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine/Process/Naval Management. Master’s degree preferred
- Must have 10+ years of experience in offshore production systems, FPSO/FLNG process operations, and relevant classification society and international regulatory requirements.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with multicultural teams.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
