Position Overview:

 

The Lead Static Equipment Engineer is a senior technical expert responsible for leading the project and providing advanced technical guidance for Static equipment /skid/ module related engineering activities in the Topside facilities for FPSO/FLNG or Offshore facilities. 

This role involves developing innovating engineering solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards, developing corporate technical standards/procedures/ standard specification/ Design Philosophy/Design Basis, workflow and keep them updated, integral, practical and fit to purpose with incorporating Project Lesson Learns.

The Lead Static Equipment Engineer plays a crucial role in project execution, from initial design to final implementation, and acts as a key technical interface with clients and stakeholders. This role may require frequent travel to the US, Europe, and Asia.

The strategic focus will also include providing support to Hanwha Ocean engineering teams based in USA/Netherland/Singapore and elsewhere as necessary including Conceptual, pre-FEED and FEED for projects in the offshore area in the future.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist the Head of Discipline / Principal Engineer to manage corporate organization and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Provide advanced expertise and knowledge to select Static Equipment /package during the conceptual design / proposal phase and conduct specific studies (Driver selection etc.) during the basic and detailed engineering phases.
  • Preparation and checking of engineering deliverables such as specifications, datasheets, RFQs, TBEs for Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Separators and other static items on offshore facilities.
  • Review of vendor proposals, prepare technical bid clarifications, issue technical bid evaluation reports and attend clarification meetings.
  • Review and approve vendor data and deliverables.
  • Provide expertise input for risk assessment in engaging with vendors, conduct manufacturing facilities visit to gather information that support detailed engineering activities, and to obtain feedback on manufacturing limitations, testing, lead times etc.
  • Participate in project planning, scheduling, and progress tracking.
  • Assist in resolving technical issues during the fabrication, installation & commissioning phases.
  • Review and approve the work of less experienced team members to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot and solve technical problems encountered during project execution.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and technical discussions to ensure robust engineering solutions.
  • Answer general queries arising from clients, contractors or internal company departments on aspects related to rotating equipment.
  • Prepare formal responses to comments from classification societies and clients on specifications, drawings, etc.
  • Maintain accurate records of design changes, decisions, and project milestones.
  • Ensure all documentation is complete and compliant with project requirements and quality management systems.
  • Prepare project schedules and progress reports to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Provide engineering review and support for bid proposal including estimate of manhour and cost.
  • Raise Technical Queries towards the client’s project documents, Design basis to ensure all scopes of work and design basis are clarified.
  • Manage interface with all relevant disciplines to get necessary information for engineering or to provide data to other disciplines for their engineering
  • Report Area of Concerns, Progress and Plan to Head of Discipline
  • Conduct feasibility studies, Pre-FEED, FEED, FEED Verification (Inception of EPCI Phase) and EPCI phase Engineering
  • Incorporate Project Lessons Learnt and add to Company’s LL database

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 15 years working experience with 7 years’ experience in Oil & Gas industries (FPSO contractor or Offshore/Onshore EPC contractor).
  • Minimum 1 FPSO / FLNG / Offshore FEED/EPCI Project experience.
