Position Overview:
The Lead Piping Stress Engineer leads and controls Piping engineering activities and act as a senior technical expert responsible for leading the project and providing advanced technical guidance for Stress Analysis and piping related engineering activities mainly in the Topside facilities for FPSO/FLNG or Offshore facilities.
Lead Piping Stress Engineer assist Head of Discipline for managing a corporate organization and mentors junior Engineers.
Lead Piping Stress Engineer develops corporate technical standards/procedures, workflow, engineering platform and keep them updated, integral, practical and fit to purpose with incorporating Project Lesson Learnt.
Lead Piping Engineer conducts technical validation and quality assurance (input/output data accuracy, technical appropriateness, consistency, practicality, code, optimum solution and regulatory compliance), provides technical advice or takes a lead as Project Discipline Lead - Topside Piping in executing Feasibility /Conceptual Study/Pre-FEED/FEED, EPCI Engineering for FPSO/FLNG or Offshore facilities projects.
This role may require frequent travel to the US, Europe, and Asia.
The ideal candidate of the position will have a strong background in Offshore Oil & Gas Industry.
The strategic focus will also include providing support to Hanwha Ocean engineering teams based in USA/Netherland/Singapore/India and elsewhere as necessary including Conceptual, pre-FEED and FEED for projects in the offshore area in the future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Focal point for Topside Piping Stress in Project Team and Communicate with Clients.
- Update and Maintain EPCI and O & M Phase Lesson Learnt database
- Ensure all engineering documents are prepared and developed in accordance with relevant design code, standard, client’s project specification and quality management system.
- Ensure Compliance with various ASME, API codes & standards and regulatory requirements
- Perform Pipe Stress Analysis of critical piping systems using CAESAR II software
- Knowledge of Stress analysis for Compressor, Pumps, Air Coolers piping system
- Perform flange leakage checks, blast analysis, transit analysis, slug checks, wind and seismic analysis
- Design and selection of pipe supports, spring hangers & expansion joint
- Assign criticality rating based on pipe stress design basis and prepare critical line list.
- Perform isometrics checking for critical and non-critical lines using Review model and ensure support types selected in line with stress requirements
- Perform reinforcement evaluation at pipe supports and branch connections
- Manage interface with all relevant disciplines to get necessary information for engineering or to provide data to other disciplines for their engineering
- Perform reinforcement evaluation at pipe supports and branch connections
- Evaluate Stress, Displacement, Forces and moments on restraints for support design and Evaluate piping loads within allowable nozzle loads
- Fully conversant with Anchor study requirements.
- Develop Project piping support specification & Design Basis.
- Prepare specifications, RFQs, TBEs for Spring Hangers, Expansion Joints and any miscellaneous pipe supports like U-Bolts etc. on offshore facilities.
- Review of vendor proposals, prepare technical bid clarifications, attend clarification meetings. Review and approve vendor data and deliverables.
- Review Vendor Documents, Engineering Deliverables such as P&ID, PMS, Layout, Pipe Routing etc. and ensure full compliance with contract requirements and meet with company/client specifications
- Report Area of Concerns, Progress and Plan to Head of Discipline
- Review and approve the work of less experienced team members to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Conduct feasibility studies, Pre-FEED, FEED, FEED Verification (Inception of EPCI Phase) and EPCI phase Engineering
- Provide engineering review and support for bid proposal including estimate of manhour and cost.
- Raise Technical Queries towards the client’s project documents, Design basis to ensure all scopes of work and design basis are clarified
- Provide engineering support for construction, commissioning and operation team
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 15 years working experience with 7 years’ experience in Oil & Gas industries (FPSO contractor or Offshore/Onshore EPC contractor)
- Minimum 1 FPSO / FLNG / Offshore FEED/EPCI Project experience
- leadership skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Fluent in English, with strong oral and written communication skills
