Position Overview:
The Lead Designer – General Civil is responsible for design and drafting of all general civil engineering works for Power plant/ Petrochemical/Oil & Gas Industry, covering site development, earthworks, roads, paving, drainage systems, fencing, manhole and other associated facilities under Principal/Lead Engineer or Principal Designer.
Lead Designer – General Civil will have a strong background in Power plant/Petrochemical/Oil & Gas Industry, be an expert in general civil works detailing, hands-on experience in 3D modelling tools like AVEVA / E3D/ S3D/ PDMS and 2D AutoCAD and provide strategic focus in General Civil works.
The strategic focus will also include providing support to Hanwha Ocean engineering teams based in Korea and elsewhere as necessary including Conceptual, pre-FEED and FEED for projects in the future.
This role may require frequent travel to the US, Europe, and Asia.
Key Responsibilities:
Under Head of Discipline, Principal/ Lead Engineer, or Principal Designer's supervision:
- Lead general civil design team delivering structural 2D drawings & 3D modelling.
- Conduct general civil works detailing, drafting & 3D modelling.
- Develop general civil design database in Engineering Management Platform.
- Participate in 30%, 60%, 90% model review and comment closure.
- Review Vendor Documents required for development of drawings.
- Ensure As-Built drawings & 3D model.
- Mentor senior & junior designers.
Qualifications:
- Minimum ITI/ Draftsmanship/ Diploma in engineering (preferably Civil) or Equivalent.
- Minimum 15 years’ total experience with 10 years’ experience at Power Plant/Petrochemical/Oil & Gas Industry EPC/ EPCI contractor.
- Worked as Lead Designer – General Civil preferably in 1 Power Plant/Petrochemical/Oil & Gas project.
- Familiarity with general civil engineering concepts, including site development, earthworks, roads, paving, drainage systems, fencing and manhole, etc.
- Well Versed with Design Tools such as AutoCAD, AVEVA / E3D/ S3D/ PDMS.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective communicator, fluent in English, able to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams & Offices, clients & vendors.
- Proficient in planning, scheduling, resource management, and supervision of design tasks, with strong execution, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Proactive in adopting modern industry practices and advanced software tools, with cost awareness, schedule sensitivity, and a value‑engineering mindset, suited to fast‑paced project environments.
