Position Overview:

 

Senior Piping Stress Engineer – Power is responsible for executing piping stress analysis and flexibility engineering activities for EPC projects involving Combined Cycle Power Plants, Gas Engine Power Plants, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Renewable Power Facilities.

 

The role focuses on delivering safe, code‑compliant, and practical piping stress design solutions, ensuring piping systems meet thermal, mechanical, and operational requirements throughout the project lifecycle, under the guidance of the Lead / Principal Stress or Piping Engineer.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Piping Stress Engineering & Analysis Execution

  • Perform piping stress analysis and flexibility studies during Concept, Pre‑FEED, FEED, and EPC execution phases.
  • Develop stress analysis models, load cases, and calculation reports for critical and non‑critical piping systems.
  • Evaluate thermal expansion, sustained, occasional, and dynamic loads to ensure system integrity and code compliance.
  • Perform detailed stress analysis using CAESAR II software, including model setup, load case definition, analysis execution, and result interpretation.
  • Define piping support requirements and provide support load data to Civil / Structural and Pipe Support teams.
  • Ensure stress analysis activities comply with applicable international and local codes and standards (ASME, EN, etc.), project specifications, and industry best practices.

 

Multidisciplinary Coordination

  • Coordinate closely with piping layout, pipe support, civil/structural, mechanical, and construction teams.
  • Interface with vendors, OEMs, and package suppliers to review stress‑related aspects of vendor piping systems and equipment nozzles.
  • Support alignment between piping layout design and stress analysis requirements.

 

Technical Problem Solving & Support

  • Identify and resolve piping stress‑related technical issues, proposing practical and constructable solutions
  • Support site queries, field changes, and stress re‑analysis during construction and commissioning phases
  • Assist in resolving vibration, expansion, and alignment issues observed during installation or operation.

 

Quality & Engineering Best Practices

  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality of stress engineering deliverables.
  • Apply EPC best practices to meet project schedule, safety, and quality targets..
  • Support continuous improvement through application of lessons learned and discipline standardization initiative.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of overall piping stress engineering experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in EPC power plant projects
  • Proven experience in Combined Cycle Power Plants is mandatory.
  • Experience in renewable energy and BESS projects is an added advantage.
  • Prior experience of international EPC projects is preferred.
  • Proven hands‑on experience with CAESAR II for piping stress analysis is mandatory (AutoPIPE or equivalent tools are an added advantage).
  • Good understanding of piping layout, pipe supports, equipment interfaces, and EPC execution methodologies.
  • Fluent in English, with good oral and written communication skills
