Position Overview:

 

Senior Structural Engineer controls Structure engineering activities mainly for Topside facilities in FPSO/FSO or FLNG & other Offshore facilities.

Senior Structural Engineer develops corporate technical standards/procedures, workflow, engineering platform (e.g. Structure design data integration) and keep them updated, integral, practical and fit to purpose with incorporating Project Lessons Learnt.

Senior Structural Engineer assist Head of Discipline/ Senior persons for managing a corporate organization and mentors Structure Engineers in the Discipline.

Senior Structural Engineer conducts technical validation and quality assurance (input/output data accuracy, technical appropriateness, consistency, practicality, code, optimum solution, and regulatory compliance) in executing Feasibility /Conceptual Study/Pre-FEED/FEED, EPCI Engineering for FPSO/FLNG or Offshore facilities projects.

Senior Structural Engineer shall be able to analyze to identify optimal solution and communicate these solutions through technical reports.

Senior Structural Engineer will have a strong background in Offshore Oil & Gas Industry, be an expert in Topsides Structure Engineering, and provide strategic focus in the Topsides Structure Engineering.

The strategic focus will also include providing support to Hanwha Ocean engineering teams based in USA/ Netherland/ Singapore/Korea and elsewhere as necessary including Conceptual, pre-FEED and FEED for projects in the offshore area in the future.

This role may require frequent travel to the US, Europe, and Asia.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

General

 

  • Develop Corporate Technical Standards, Procedures, Engineering Workflow and Engineering Platform for Topside Structure.
  • Assist Topside Structure Head of Discipline/ Seniors to manage corporate organization.
  • Update and Maintain EPCI and O & M Phase Lesson Learnt database.

 

Proposal/Pre-award Phase

 

  • Conduct Conceptual/ Feasibility study to propose the optimum & competitive technical solution.
  • Ensure that structure systems are optimized, efficient, safe, environmentally compliant, and engineering documents prepared in accordance with relevant design codes, standards, and client’s project specifications.
  • Provide engineering expertise and support to form the optimum & competitive proposals, engineering review and support for bid proposal including estimate of manhours & cost.

 

Feasibility Study/Pre-FEED/FEED/EPCI Phase

 

  • Raise Technical Queries towards the Client's project documents, Design basis to ensure all scope of works and design basis are clarified.
  • Manage interface with all relevant discipline to get necessary information for Structure engineering or to provide data to other discipline for their engineering.
  • Mentor junior or less-experienced Structure engineers.
  • Attend project meeting internally and, if necessary, with clients, 3rd party, sub-contractor, and generate MOM.
  • Report Area of Concerns, Progress and Plan to Lead Engineer and/or Project management team as applicable.
  • Ensure Compliance with regulatory requirements, develop Project Design Philosophies, Standards, Procedure.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, Pre-FEED, FEED, FEED Verification (Inception of EPCI Phase) and EPCI phase Engineering.
  • Develop structure calculations, studies and deliverables, including Global and Local Structure Strength Analysis, Material Take-off (MTO), Weight Control Report (WCR) etc..
  • Guide and collaborate with Structural Design Team for 3D modelling and 2D AutoCAD drawings.
  • Participation in various Workshop (Material Handling Study, 3D Model Review, Constructability Study, etc.).
  • Close out comment/punches/recommendation related to structure from HAZOP, Vendor HAZOP, HAZID, 3D Model, Constructability Review, etc.
  • Review Vendor Documents - Structure Deliverables such as Framing Plan, SACS Model etc.
  • Develop contract structure for 3rd party consultants - e.g. Module Support Structure (MSS) FEA Analysis, Module Structure Fire Analysis (Linear/Non-Linear), Structure Vibration/Pulsation Analysis, Blast Analysis etc. and manage work scope, review/ comment/ approve of 3rd Party’s output.
  • Supervise sub-contractor for quality and project schedule, review of deliverables and validation of design.
  • Implement Management of Change to ensure all design change to be incorporated in As-built.
  • Provide engineering expertise for decision making to resolve Structure related issue.
  • Provide engineering support for construction, commissioning, operation & maintenance team
  • Conduct Troubleshooting, provide optimum technical solution and engineering support in facility modification, revamp studies.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or Equivalent engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience with 5 years’ experience in Oil & gas Industry (FPSO contractor or Offshore/Onshore EPC contractor).
  • Minimum one (1) FPSO / FLNG / Platform FEED/ EPCI Project experience (Topsides structure).
  • Hands-on Structure engineering experience in FPSO/ FLNG/ Platform Topside Structure Design Basis, SACS Modeling (Strength, Fatigue), and Supervision of Topside Detail Engineering etc.
  • Well Versed with Structure Engineering Tool such as SACS/ Staad Pro and FE analysis software like FEMAP/FE Gate/ Nastran/ ANSYS/SESAM etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of Structure engineering practices, principles, industry codes and standards - as well as an understanding of scientific methods of problem-solving.
  • Leadership skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work with and to communicate effectively with co-workers, vendors, clients.
  • Skill to plan, schedule, organize resource and supervision of design and engineering tasks for teams
  • Fluent in English, with strong oral and written communication skills.
