Position Overview:
Electrical Engineer position for Electrical engineering activities mainly for Combine cycle, Gas Engine, BESS and renewable power plant EPC Project.
Electrical Engineer – Power is a role involves electrical engineering design for EPC Projects of Combined Cycle Power Plants, as well as Gas Engine, BESS, and renewable power facilities, while ensuring compliance with international and local codes, utility requirements, and EPC best practices.
The position requires strong technical skills, problem solving capability, and extensive coordination with multidisciplinary teams, OEMs, utilities, clients, and regulatory authorities across international projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering Design Responsibility
- Support the Head of Electrical Discipline / Lead Electrical Engineer in managing the electrical engineering function across global EPC projects.
- Implement corporate engineering standards, procedures, workflows, and design platforms, incorporating project lessons learned and industry best practices.
- Prepare electrical engineering deliverables, including calculations, drawings, technical justifications, and deviations.
- Assist Lead Engineer in technical reviews and quality assurance to ensure accuracy, consistency, code compliance, constructability, and optimized solutions. Electrical Engineering Scope.
- Project Execution Responsibility
- Deliver electrical engineering activities across all project stages, including Feasibility/Concept Studies, Pre-FEED, FEED, Detailed Engineering, and Construction & Commissioning Support.
- Provide support preparing key engineering documents such as:
- Scope of Work (SOW)
- Basis of Design (BOD)
- Design philosophies and reports
- Functional specifications
- Black start studies and design verification reports
- Material Requisitions and technical documentation
- Ensure all engineering deliverables comply with applicable project specifications, codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Electrical Engineering Scope
Demonstrated capability to execute electrical engineering calculations and design activities for large-scale Combined Cycle Power Plant EPC projects, including but not limited to:
- Generators, Generator Step-Up (GSU) Transformers, Unit Auxiliary Transformers (UATs), Station Service Transformers
- HV (69 kV–500 kV), MV (35 kV–4.16 kV), and LV electrical systems
- Switchyard engineering (AIS / GIS), including utility interconnections
- Protection, control, metering, and SCADA interfaces
- Electrical interface with utility grid requirements
- Lighting, Grounding & bonding systems and lightning protection
- Emergency and black-start systems, diesel generators, UPS, and DC systems
- Cable sizing, routing, tray and conduit layouts, and cable schedules
- Power system studies: load flow, short circuit, arc flash, motor starting, and protection coordination
- Hazardous area classification and selection of electrical equipment
- Electrical integration with Gas Turbine, HRSG, Steam Turbine Generator, and Balance of Plant packages
- Ensure compliance with applicable international and regional standards, including but not limited to:
- IEC, IEEE, ANSI
- NFPA (NEC), NEMA
- Local Authority and utility standards
- Check adherence to HSE requirements and safe design practices across all projects.
- Support procurement engineering activities including RFQs, technical specifications, data sheets, Technical Bid Analyses (TBA), and purchase recommendations.
- Review and approve vendor documentation and drawings.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) as required.
- Interface, Construction & Commissioning Support
- Coordinate electrical engineering interfaces with mechanical, civil, I&C, process, construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
- Coordinate with OEMs, and vendors.
- Provide engineering support during construction, testing, commissioning, energization, synchronization, and handover.
- Ensure preparation and close-out of as-built electrical documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Professional certification or chartership is an added advantage.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of overall electrical engineering experience.
- At least 2 years in EPC power projects.
- Proven experience in Combined Cycle Power Plants is desirable.
- Experience in renewable energy and BESS projects is an added advantage.
- Prior experience on international EPC projects or IPP projects is preferred.
- Experience in design and execution of Overhead transmission line will be an added advantage
- Experience with electrical system analysis tools such as ETAP, Dig SILENT or SKM.
- Experience with engineering and design platforms such as AVEVA UE (1D and 2D), SPEL, AutoCAD, and MS Office 365.
- Good understanding of EPC execution methodologies, vendor coordination, and package engineering.
- Fluent in English, with strong oral and written communication skills
