Position Overview:

The Piping Engineer provides technical leadership and expertise in the design and engineering of piping systems for major projects, such as FPSO and FLNG facilities. This role involves leading large-scale projects, developing complex designs, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications. The Principal Piping Engineer also mentors junior engineers and conducts technical reviews.

The ideal candidate of the position will have a strong background in Offshore Oil & Gas Industry, be an expert in the field of Topsides Piping Engineering and provide strategic focus in the Topsides Concept Engineering for Conceptual/pre-FEED/FEED/EPC(I) projects being bid in the offshore area. This will include FPSO or FLNG facilities as well as other Fixed and Floating platforms/facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and Manage Large-Scale Piping Engineering Projects:

• Take charge of overseeing the planning, execution, and successful completion of large-scale piping engineering projects.
• Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets in coordination with project stakeholders.
• Allocate resources effectively, monitor project progress, and mitigate risks to ensure timely delivery and adherence to project objectives.
• To answer general queries arising from clients, contractors or internal Company departments on piping aspects of the system design.

Develop and Review Complex Piping Designs:

• Utilize advanced engineering software and expertise to develop complex piping designs that meet project requirements and performance criteria.
• Incorporate innovative solutions and best practices to optimize design efficiency, functionality, and safety.
• Conduct thorough reviews of piping designs to identify potential issues, optimize performance, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Ensure Compliance with Standards and Client Specifications:

• Ensure that all piping designs and engineering activities comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
• To prepare formal responses to comments from classification societies and clients on specifications and drawings
• Review project specifications and client requirements to ensure alignment with project deliverables.
• Implement quality assurance processes to verify compliance and maintain documentation of all relevant standards and specifications.

Provide Technical Mentorship to the Engineering Team:

• Serve as a technical mentor and subject matter expert for the engineering team, providing guidance, support, and knowledge sharing.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
• Encourage collaboration and knowledge exchange to enhance the collective expertise of the engineering team.

Conduct Technical Reviews and Approve Documentation:

• Conduct comprehensive technical reviews of piping designs, calculations, and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Provide feedback and recommendations to improve the quality and integrity of engineering deliverables.
• Approve final documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports, prior to submission to clients or regulatory authorities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in piping engineering, with significant experience in offshore topsides design.
• Extensive knowledge of industry standards, industry codes and practices related to offshore engineering and piping design – as well an understanding of scientific methods of problem-solving.
• Strong understanding of offshore industry terminology, concepts, and practices.
• Proficiency in piping analysis and design software.
• Proven track record of success in developing and performing Topsides Piping Conceptual / Feasibility Studies during pre-FEED/FEED or tender stage. Prior experience with FPSO or FLNG design development and/or engineering project delivery (e.g. at a top-tier FPSO contractor) will be preferred.
• Strong leadership and project management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
