Position Overview:

 

The Construction Manager will be responsible for supervising and coordinating all offshore and yard-based construction activities for offshore oil & gas and renewable energy projects, including fixed platforms, floating facilities, subsea structures, and associated marine works. This role ensures that construction is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, schedules, and budgets. The Offshore Construction Manager will manage subcontractors, oversee site and marine logistics, monitor construction progress, and support the transition into offshore installation, hook-up, and commissioning.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Oversee day-to-day construction operations across yards, offshore sites, and marine spreads, ensuring adherence to project execution plans and technical requirements.
  • Direct and coordinate subcontractor and discipline teams to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and schedule objectives.
  • Ensure effective interface management between structural, mechanical, piping, electrical & instrumentation (E&I), marine, and commissioning disciplines to maintain smooth construction progress.
  • Manage construction logistics, material handling, laydown areas, and receipt of major equipment and modules, including coordination with marine and transportation activities.
  • Monitor construction quality, workmanship, and compliance with engineering specifications, class society rules, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide constructability and execution input during engineering and design phases to support safe and efficient construction.
  • Work closely with offshore installation, hook-up, and commissioning teams to ensure systems are completed, tested, and prepared for mechanical completion and handover.
  • Implement and maintain site and offshore safety programs, ensuring all construction activities meet corporate, regulatory, and local HSE requirements.
  • Identify delays, constraints, or execution risks and develop corrective and recovery actions to maintain project schedule.
  • Support cost control activities, evaluate variations and claims, and ensure construction execution remains within approved budgets.
  • Ensure construction records, quality documentation, punch lists, and handover dossiers are completed accurately and in line with contractual requirements.
  • Liaise with project management, engineering, procurement, marine operations, clients, and contractors to ensure alignment and timely decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize construction methodologies, enhance productivity, and improve safety and quality performance.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Naval, Offshore Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10–15 years of experience in offshore construction, including significant experience on complex offshore facilities and marine-based projects.
  • Proven experience managing offshore and yard-based construction activities for fixed or floating offshore structures.
  • Strong background in subcontractor management, QA/QC, site and marine logistics, and field engineering.
  • Solid knowledge of offshore construction practices, installation methodologies, and regulatory and class society requirements (ABS, DNV, API, ISO).
  • Experience with project scheduling and construction management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and effective project delivery.
