Position Overview
The Contracts & Risk Coordinator Lead is a strategic role responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of the Main Contract and high-value Subcontracts. You will serve as the commercial safeguard for the project, leading high-level negotiations during the tender phase and managing complex contractual interfaces during execution. This role acts as the bridge between legal requirements and operational reality, ensuring that risks are mitigated and project profitability is protected through meticulous change management and compliance oversight.
Key Responsibilities
1. Contract Development & Risk Mitigation (Bid & Pre-Award)
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of Main Contract Terms & Conditions (T&Cs), identifying commercial risks.
- Lead negotiations with clients to reach favorable positions on liability, liquidated damages, and payment milestones.
- Develop "Back-to-Back" subcontracting strategies to ensure project risks are appropriately flowed down to vendors and sub-contractors.
2. Contract Administration & Execution Management
- Act as the primary focal point for the client's Contract Manager, interpreting the Scope of Work (SOW) and managing contractual obligations.
- Oversee the Variation Order (VO) and Change Management process, ensuring all changes are documented, priced, and approved in accordance with the contract.
- Manage complex indemnity and insurance requirements, ensuring all site and yard activities are covered.
3. Subcontractor Oversight & Compliance
- Draft project-specific subcontract terms tailored to the unique traits of specialized offshore services.
- Monitor subcontractor performance against contractual KPIs and issue formal Non-Compliance Notices or Default Notices when necessary.
- Ensure subcontractors comply with local content (LCR) requirements, tax regulations, and statutory obligations.
4. Multidisciplinary Interface & Reporting
- Lead the coordination between Legal, Finance, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) teams to ensure unity in all external correspondence.
- Draft, review, and manage all formal project correspondence (Letters/Notices) to maintain a robust record for potential claims or disputes.
- Deliver data-driven risk reports and performance dashboards to the Project Manager and Senior Leadership.
5. Project Close-out & Continuous Improvement
- Manage the commercial close-out of the project, including final account settlements, release of retention/bonds, and warranty transitions.
- Facilitate "Lessons Learned" sessions to refine future contracting templates and risk frameworks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Quantity Surveying, Business, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of specialized experience in Offshore Oil & Gas (EPC/EPCI) environments.
- Deep understanding of industry-standard contracts (e.g., FIDIC, LOGIC, or bespoke FPSO/Platform contracts).
- Exceptional command of English for drafting high-stakes legal correspondence and leading negotiations
