Position Overview
The Lead Package Engineer in the Topsides Mechanical Equipment Discipline is a senior technical expert responsible for leading complex engineering projects and providing advanced technical guidance in the field of package module/skid/equipment. This role involves developing innovative engineering solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and mentoring junior engineers. The Lead Package Engineer plays a crucial role during project execution, from initial design through to final implementation, and acts as a key technical interface with client and stakeholders.
Key Responsibility
- Provide technical expertise and knowledge to complex package equipment/skid/module during the conceptual design / proposal phase and conduct specific studies during the basic and detailed engineering phases.
- Familiar with scope and work processes of Package Engineering
- Preparation and checking of engineering deliverables such as specifications, datasheets, RFQs, etc.
- Review of vendor proposals, attend clarification meeting, prepare technical bid clarifications and bid evaluation (TBE) report
- Review and approve vendor data and deliverables
- Participate in project planning, scheduling, progress tracking and expediting package progress
- Assist in resolving technical issues during the fabrication, installation and commissioning phases.
- Spearhead design gates activities, such as 30% 60% 90% Model Reviews, relevant to the Package
- Troubleshoot and solve technical problems encountered during project execution.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and technical discussions to ensure robust engineering solutions.
- Answer general queries arising from clients, contractors or internal company departments on aspects related to the package equipment.
- Prepare formal responses to comments from classification societies and clients on specifications, drawings, etc.
- Coordinate with fabrication, installation, commissioning and operations teams to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth execution of projects.
- Ensure all documentation is complete and compliant with project requirements and quality management systems.
- Prepare project schedules and progress reports to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Provide expertise during vendors’ engagement, conduct manufacturing facilities visit to gather information that support detailed engineering activities, and to obtain feedback on manufacturing limitations, testing, lead times etc.
- Develop standard specifications and procedures related to the design, manufacturing, supply, installation of package equipment
- Provide technical guidance and mentor junior engineers and designers.
- Review and approve the work of less experienced team members to ensure quality and accuracy.
Qualification
- Minimum Bachelor Degree or Master Degree in Mechanical or related Engineering
- Minimum 15 years experience in the offshore and onshore oil and gas industry
- Minimum consecutive 7 years experience at top-tier FPSO contractor or Offshore/Onshore EPC contractor (minimum 7 years working experience in the same contractor)
- Minimum 1 FPSO EPCI Project experience from the beginning of project (engineering) until sail-away to site or delivery of FPSO
- Minimum 2 FPSO FEED/EPCI Project experience as a Project Lead - Topside Package Equipment/Skid/Module
- Hands-on Mechanical or Package engineering experience in FPSO or Offshore EPCI projects including RFT Document Preparation, Tender Process Handling (Clarification and Technical Bid Evaluation), Vendor Coordination and Installation/Construction/Commissioning phase support.
- Hands-on Field Engineering in Construction phase or Onshore/Offshore commissioning experience is value-added
- Extensive knowledge of Mechanical or Package engineering practices, principles, industry codes and standards.
- Very strong leadership skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills for effective interface with co-workers, vendors, clients and other project stakeholders
- Fluent in English (both oral and written)
