Key Responsibilities
Corporate & General
- Develop and maintain corporate technical standards and procedures for process safety (e.g., Process Safety Design Philosophy).
- Establish and improve engineering workflows and platforms.
- Support the Head of Discipline in managing organizational operations.
- Maintain and update lessons learned databases for EPCI and O&M phases.
Proposal / Pre-Award Phase
- Conduct conceptual and feasibility studies to propose optimal and competitive technical solutions.
- Ensure engineering documents comply with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications.
- Provide technical support for proposal development, including cost and manpower estimation.
- Organize and facilitate risk assessments.
- Review and support bid submissions.
Project Execution (Feasibility, Pre-FEED, FEED, EPCI)
- Lead the Process Safety discipline within project teams.
- Serve as the main focal point for process safety matters and client communication.
- Manage technical queries to clarify project scope and design basis.
- Coordinate interfaces across disciplines to ensure seamless information flow.
- Oversee team resources, scheduling, and performance.
- Mentor junior engineers and support team development.
- Participate in meetings with internal teams, clients, and contractors; prepare minutes of meeting (MOM).
- Report progress, risks, and issues to project management and discipline leadership.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and client HSE requirements.
Technical Safety & Engineering
- Develop safety design philosophies, specifications, and procedures.
- Conduct and support safety studies such as HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, QRA, FRA, ERA, and others.
- Facilitate safety workshops and reviews (e.g., 3D model reviews, human factors).
- Integrate safety study outcomes into engineering design.
- Review and supervise third-party safety consultants and deliverables.
- Ensure hazards are identified, assessed, and mitigated to ALARP standards.
- Perform safety analyses using industry tools (e.g., PHAST).
- Provide safety guidance across disciplines to ensure integrated design.
- Monitor and implement regulatory updates.
Operations & Maintenance
- Support O&M teams with safety engineering expertise.
- Organize risk assessments for existing facilities and brownfield modifications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Safety Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 10–15 years of experience in the oil & gas industry (offshore/onshore).
- At least 5–7 years of continuous experience with a top-tier FPSO contractor or EPC company.
- Proven experience in at least one full FPSO EPCI project from engineering through sail-away/delivery.
- Experience as a Project Lead in Process Safety for at least one FPSO FEED/EPCI project.
- Hands-on expertise in technical safety studies (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, QRA, consequence modeling).
- Familiarity with safety engineering tools such as PHAST, Safeti, MAROS, or equivalent.
- Experience in commissioning, operations, and maintenance is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of offshore safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication skills in English (both written and spoken).
