Position Overview:

 

This position will work closely with project management teams, supply chain, engineering, commercial and finance functions to provide practical legal guidance across the lifecycle of complex engineering and construction projects.

 

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting contract negotiation, procurement activities, risk management and project execution while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, contractual obligations and internal governance standards.

 

This role requires a lawyer who is comfortable working closely with project teams during project execution and providing practical, commercially focused legal support in a fast-paced and multidisciplinary project environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide legal support to project management teams across the lifecycle of EPCI(O) projects, including project development, contract negotiation, project execution and project close-out.
  • Draft, review and help negotiate various project-related agreements including EPCI(O) contracts, subcontracts, supply agreements, consortium/joint venture agreements and services agreements.
  • Support procurement and supply chain teams in contract negotiations with subcontractors, vendors and service providers.
  • Assist project teams in managing contractual risks during project execution, including variations, delay issues and other contractual entitlements.
  • Work with internal teams and external counsel in assessing claims and supporting dispute resolution strategies when necessary.
  • Collaborate with engineering, project controls, finance and compliance teams to ensure consistent legal support across project activities.
  • Support the legal department on compliance matters, internal policies and corporate governance when required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Law degree from a recognized university and qualification to practice law in a common law jurisdiction.
  • 3–5 years of post-qualification experience, ideally gained in a law firm or in-house environment with exposure to construction, infrastructure, engineering or energy projects.
  • Experience reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, preferably in an EPCI(O), construction or infrastructure environment.
  • Familiarity with international project contracting structures, including EPC contracting frameworks and FIDIC-based agreements, is desirable.
  • Exposure to construction claims, variations, delay analysis or dispute resolution in international infrastructure, energy or engineering projects across multiple jurisdictions will be advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, drafting and negotiation skills.
