Position Overview
The Principal Electrical Engineer develops and maintains corporate technical standards, workflows, and engineering platforms for topside electrical systems. Provides expert engineering support across project phases to optimize design, ensure compliance, and drive technical solutions.
Key Responsibility
- Develop and update corporate technical standards and procedures for topside electrical systems to ensure practical and fit-for-purpose application
- Lead and manage the topside electrical discipline project team, including manpower planning and schedule control
- Prepare, review, and coordinate electrical engineering deliverables for offshore and onshore plant projects, including system design documents, calculations, specifications, and material requisitions.
- Support development of key electrical deliverables such as single line diagrams, load lists, cable schedules, interconnection diagrams, electrical equipment layouts, and related technical documents.
- Coordinate with layout, instrumentation, process, piping, structural, and package engineering teams to ensure integrated and technically sound design execution.
- Review vendor documents and ensure electrical equipment and package interfaces are properly incorporated into project design.
- Participate in design reviews, model reviews, HAZID/HAZOP-related interface discussions, and project technical meetings to resolve issues and optimize design.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable codes and standards, client requirements, and engineering best practices.
- Provide technical support during procurement, construction, installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases as required.
- Identify technical risks, engineering deviations, and interface issues, and propose effective resolutions.
- Support project schedule adherence by delivering engineering outputs in line with milestones and quality expectations.
- Mentor junior engineers/designers where applicable and contribute to technical knowledge sharing within the team.
Qualification
- 15 years and above of electrical engineering experience in offshore and/or onshore plant, EPC, oil & gas, LNG, power, or industrial projects.
- Strong understanding of plant electrical systems, including power distribution, electrical equipment, cable systems, and system interfaces.
- Proven experience developing and reviewing core electrical engineering deliverables in project environments.
- Familiarity with multi-discipline engineering coordination and project execution workflows.
- Ability to review and integrate 2D/3D design outputs with electrical engineering requirements.
- Experience supporting technical reviews, project interfaces, and issue resolution in a fast-paced project setting.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Experience in FPSO, FLNG, offshore platforms, refinery, gas processing, petrochemical, or power generation projects.
