Project Inspection Coordinator

Position Overview:
The Project Inspection Coordinator (PIC) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring all inspection and testing activities associated with suppliers and subcontractors across an EPCIO project lifecycle (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, and Operations). This role ensures that inspection activities are executed in accordance with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), contractual requirements, and applicable codes and standards. The PIC acts as the central interface between engineering, procurement, project and supplier quality, and third-party inspection teams to ensure timely, efficient, and compliant inspection execution. The position plays a key role in preventing delays, ensuring quality compliance, and maintaining traceability of inspection records aligned with project quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection Planning & Coordination
- Develop and maintain the Project Inspection Plan aligned with procurement schedules and fabrication timelines.
- Coordinate inspection activities across project suppliers for procurement and subcontract packages.
- Schedule inspections based on inspection notifications received from suppliers and subcontractors as per approved inspection and test plans on the project.
Supplier Inspection Coordination:
- Coordinate inspection activities at supplier facilities (shop inspections, FATs, and final inspections).
- Interface with Project Quality Manager, Supplier Quality Manager, Supply Chain team and Package Managers/Engineers for inspection readiness.
- Monitor execution of inspection reports, and associated documentation.
Third Party Inspection & Expediting Interface:
- Coordinate with third-party inspection agencies (TPI) and ensure alignment with project inspection strategies.
- Manage inspector assignments, travel logistics, and inspection schedules.
- Ensure timely execution of inspections to avoid fabrication or delivery delays.
- Provide inspection support for expediting activities and supplier progress monitoring.
Inspection Execution Monitoring:
- Track and report inspection status, including completed, pending, and overdue inspections.
- Identify risks or delays in inspection execution and proactively escalate issues.
Quality Documentation & Records Management
- Ensure all inspection records, reports, and certificates are properly reviewed, approved, and archived.
- Maintain inspection data in line with the Project Quality Dossier / Manufacturing Record Book (MRB) requirements.
- Verify completeness and traceability of quality documentation from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Support final documentation and project handover activities.
Non-Conformance & Issue Coordination
- Support identification and tracking of inspection-related Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Coordinate with Supplier Quality and QA/QC teams to ensure timely resolution and closure.
- Assist in verification of corrective actions and re-inspection activities where required.
Reporting and Performance Tracking:
- Prepare regular reports on inspection status, KPIs, and risk areas.
- Monitor key inspection performance metrics set up by the project.
- Support continuous improvement of inspection planning and execution processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in science, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in inspection coordination roles.
- Experience coordinating inspections across international suppliers.
- Familiarity with large EPC projects especially FPSO.
- Good understanding of scheduling and monitoring inspections as per supplier notifications and approved supplier Inspection and Test Plans.
- Excellent planning and coordination skills (multi-location, multi-supplier environment).
- Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Good problem-solving and issue escalation skills.
- Ability to work under schedule pressure and manage multiple priorities.
