Position Summary
The Application Engineer for Aveva Engineering will serve as the enterprise focal point for implementing, configuring, and supporting the AVEVA Engineering suite across multi-discipline engineering environments.
Directly reporting to the EIS Group Lead and coordinating with other EIS Application engineers and discipline leads for the corporate and project scope.
The position requires a seasoned professional capable of balancing legacy engineering practices with forward-leaning digital transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, customize, and administrate AVEVA Engineering (1D/2D) to meet project and corporate standards.
- Develop and maintain NAM (Name Allocation Manager), Data models, functional deliverables, class libraries, UDA structures, and attribute mappings.
- Configure catalogue structures, datasheet templates, calculation sets, and object hierarchies aligned with Company standard and CFIHOS requirements.
- Drive standardization of tag naming conventions, status codes, deliverable rules, and reporting logic.
- Facilitate seamless data connectivity between AVEVA Engineering and related AVEVA platforms (E3D, P&ID, Instrumentation, Electrical, and UE).
- Support bi-directional data exchanges with external tools such as Cognite Data Fusion, SmartPlant, ACC, HYSYS, and in-house databases.
- Implement robust tag validation workflows across multiple systems and engineering disciplines.
- Define project setup, metadata frameworks, access control, discipline workflows, and data handover requirements.
- Ensure engineering disciplines (Process, Piping, Mechanical, Instrument, Electrical, Safety, Procurement) are empowered to execute deliverables effectively in AVEVA Engineering.
- Troubleshoot system issues and deliver root-cause analysis with quick turnaround.
Reporting, Automation & Scripting
- Develop advanced reporting sets: Equipment Lists, Instrument Index, Valve Lists, Line Lists, I/O Lists, Cause & Effect Sheets, and engineering registers.
- Automate repetitive tasks using PML, .NET scripts, SQL queries, or AVEVA APIs.
- Deploy dashboards and KPIs for engineering progress tracking and data-quality governance.
Governance, Compliance & Digital Delivery
- Enforce corporate digital standards, engineering naming conventions, and information-management protocols.
- Support data governance frameworks for Asset Information, LCI/DFO packages, and digital-twin readiness.
- Ensure alignment with client requirements, CFIHOS RDL mappings, and EPC handover specifications.
Stakeholder Management & Training
- Provide high-calibre user support, training, and onboarding for internal and external project teams.
- Engage with AVEVA Global Support, IT Infrastructure teams, and project leadership to ensure system availability, performance, and scalability.
- Lead workshops to drive adoption of best practices and enhance engineering data maturity across the organization.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
- Minimum 5 years and above of experience in AVEVA Engineering across EPC/Oil & Gas/FPSO projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of AVEVA Engineering Data Model, E3D integration, and multi-discipline engineering workflows.
- Hands-on expertise in AVEVA configuration, PML scripting, SQL, catalogue setup, and datasheet development.
- Demonstrated experience managing engineering information in complex, multi-location project setups.
- Deep understanding of industry standards such as ASME, API, IEC, ISO 15926, CFIHOS/JIP36.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with an ability to guide technical and non-technical teams.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with AVEVA Unified Engineering (UE) and AVEVA Data Warehouse concepts.
- Working knowledge of AVEVA Engineering / Digital Twin ecosystems.
- Exposure to cloud-hosted engineering environments, virtual servers, and VPN-based access models.
- Prior experience supporting procurement workflows, MTO generation, and engineering–procurement data handover.
- Familiarity with Power BI dashboards for engineering analytics.
