Position Overview

The Structure Engineer is responsible for executing and supporting structural engineering activities for topside facilities in FPSO, FLNG, and offshore projects. The role focuses on delivering safe, efficient, and compliant structural design solutions across project phases including Conceptual, Pre-FEED, FEED, and EPCI.

The Structure Engineer contributes to the development and continuous improvement of technical standards, engineering workflows, and design practices, incorporating project lessons learned. The role involves performing technical validation and ensuring quality in engineering deliverables, including accuracy, compliance with codes and regulations, and practical design solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in offshore oil & gas, with hands-on experience in topside structural engineering and a good understanding of multidisciplinary project environments.


Key Responsibilities

Corporate & General

  • Support the development and maintenance of corporate technical standards and procedures.
  • Contribute to improving engineering workflows and design systems.
  • Assist the Head of Discipline and Lead Engineers in discipline management activities.
  • Support the capture and application of lessons learned from projects.

Proposal / Pre-Award Phase

  • Support conceptual and feasibility studies to develop practical and competitive solutions.
  • Prepare and review engineering deliverables in line with codes, standards, and client specifications.
  • Provide technical inputs for proposals, including scope definition and manhour estimates.
  • Ensure structural designs meet safety, efficiency, and environmental requirements.

Project Execution (Conceptual / Pre-FEED / FEED / EPCI)

  • Perform structural engineering calculations, analyses, and design deliverables (e.g. strength, fatigue).
  • Support or act as discipline focal point for structural engineering within the project team.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design integration.
  • Raise and manage technical queries to clarify scope and design basis.
  • Participate in project meetings with internal teams, clients, and contractors.
  • Report progress and highlight potential risks or concerns.

Engineering & Technical Delivery

  • Develop and review structural design calculations and models (e.g. SACS).
  • Participate in design reviews, 3D model reviews, and constructability assessments.
  • Support closure of comments from HAZID, HAZOP, and other design reviews.
  • Review vendor and subcontractor deliverables related to structural scope.
  • Support management and coordination of third-party engineering studies (e.g. FEA, blast, vibration).
  • Ensure quality and consistency in engineering outputs.

Construction, Commissioning & Operations Support

  • Provide engineering support during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Assist in resolving site-related structural issues.
  • Support updates to as-built documentation.
  • Contribute to troubleshooting and structural modifications or revamp studies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5 - 8 years of experience in offshore/onshore oil & gas projects.
  • Experience with FPSO, FLNG, or offshore EPC projects is preferred.
  • Experience across project phases (Conceptual, FEED, EPCI) is advantageous.
  • Hands-on experience in topside structural engineering, including SACS modeling (strength, fatigue).
  • Familiarity with structural analysis methods and offshore design standards.
  • Exposure to construction or field engineering is an added advantage.
