Position Overview
The Senior Application Engineer (AVEVA E&I) will act as the technical owner for AVEVA Electrical and AVEVA Instrumentation Environment, responsible for application configuration, engineering database governance, discipline data modelling, integration support, automation, troubleshooting, and production support for EPC, offshore, marine, and FPSO projects.
Directly reporting to the EIS Group Lead and coordinating with other EIS Application engineers and discipline leads for the corporate and project scope.
The role requires strong hands-on experience with AVEVA E&I administration, E&I engineering deliverable production, relational engineering data structures, interface management, reporting, and scripted automation to support a data-centric engineering execution model.
Key Responsibility
- Install, configure, clone, maintain, and administer AVEVA Electrical and AVEVA Instrumentation project environments, including project databases, corporate reference configuration, project seed data, and controlled deployment packages.
- Define and administer discipline object models, tag structures, numbering rules, naming conventions, revision schemes, attribute dictionaries, status values, validation rules, and engineering lifecycle states.
- Configure class libraries, drawing templates, report definitions, macro-driven outputs, smart symbols, catalogs, cable types, termination rules, hook-up libraries, title blocks, borders, and project-specific drafting standards.
- Manage users, roles, access rights, licenses, project settings, and controlled access for internal teams, contractors, JV partners, suppliers, and client representatives where applicable.
- Maintain configuration registers, environment baselines, change logs, backup/restore procedures, deployment notes, and technical handover documentation for each project environment.
- Build and maintain the E&I engineering data model for equipment, cables, cores, terminations, junction boxes, panels, instruments, signals, I/O channels, loops, electrical loads, circuits, MCCs, distribution boards, switchgear, and associated deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with Company Standards, CFIHOS/JIP36, ISO 15926, and internal engineering data governance frameworks.
- Develop and maintain smart symbols, user-defined attributes, validated tag libraries, cable and instrument data structures, and controlled reference data for project deliverables.
- Define rules for cable routing data, termination matrix generation, loop package data extraction, signal continuity checks, device-to-loop relationships, equipment-to-circuit relationships, and cross-discipline tag correlation.
- Standardize status codes, issue-for-construction workflows, revision tracking, and engineering control practices.
- Support mapping of E&I attributes to client information requirements, CFIHOS-aligned tag attributes, LCI/DFO data books, asset registers, and digital handover datasets.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, instrumentation, control systems, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 - 8 years or above of relevant experience in AVEVA Electrical, AVEVA Instrumentation, AVEVA Engineering, or AVEVA Unified Engineering within EPC, offshore, oil and gas, marine, or FPSO environments.
- Strong technical understanding of electrical and instrumentation engineering workflows, including cable engineering, termination design, loop design, instrument index management, I/O allocation, electrical load lists, single line diagrams, wiring diagrams, hook-up deliverables, MTO generation, and interface control.
- Hands-on capability in project setup, database configuration, object model configuration, report customization, PML scripting, SQL queries, .NET utilities, APIs, import/export routines, and engineering-data validation workflows.
- Experience working in multi-location, large-scale project setups.
- Ability to review sample configuration, troubleshoot production issues, explain E&I data relationships, and demonstrate practical experience with large-volume engineering datasets during technical interviews.
- Hands-on knowledge of AVEVA Unified Engineering, AVEVA E3D integration, AVEVA P&ID integration, and 1D/2D engineering-data consistency workflows.
- Experience supporting digital-twin initiatives and LCI data setups.
- Understanding of MTO workflows, procurement interfaces, and construction deliverables.
- Experience engaging with software vendors to review product issues, enhancement requests, patches, upgrades, and roadmap impacts on project delivery.
