Position Overview
The ICSS Senior Engineer supports the design, integration, and optimization of advanced automation, safety, and control systems for offshore production assets, with a strong emphasis on FPSO units. This role plays a key part in early-phase engineering~spanning Concept, Pre-FEED, and FEED~ensuring that ICSS architectures for FPSOs are technically sound, compliant with international standards, and tailored for operational efficiency, reliability, and lifecycle performance in complex offshore environments.
The role supports reliable power, control, automation, and instrumentation solutions by coordinating design requirements, technical studies, system interfaces, and execution priorities across concept, FEED, detailed engineering, procurement support, and commissioning readiness. It is expected to maintain compliance with project standards and industry codes while ensuring that electrical and control system deliverables are integrated, safe, and operationally robust.
At this level, the role independently manages complex work packages, reviews deliverables, supports problem solving, and provides practical guidance to junior team members. The position is expected to bring stronger judgment on technical and execution matters, strengthen coordination efficiency, and improve delivery quality through hands-on project experience.
Key Responsibility
- Develop and evaluate design concepts for Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD), and Fire & Gas (F&G) systems in offshore applications
- Support definition of ICSS architecture and network topologies across system levels
- Produce control narratives, cause & effect diagrams, and IO lists in alignment with project specifications
- Collaborate with electrical, instrumentation, process, and telecom teams to ensure cohesive system integration
- Identify and address interface risks or control strategy conflicts across multiple systems
- Participate in design reviews and support FAT/SAT processes with vendors and stakeholders
- Ensure ICSS design activities follow relevant international standards (IEC, API, etc.) and project-specific guidelines
- Support functional safety reviews, SIL classification processes, and documentation of safety lifecycle elements
- Assist in verifying cybersecurity compliance in accordance with IEC 62443 (preferred)
- Prepare deliverables for Pre-FEED/FEED phases including technical specifications, design reports, and input for proposals
- Contribute to cost estimation and material selection efforts relevant to ICSS packages
- Stay current on developments in digitalization, remote operations, cybersecurity, and advanced automation
- Contribute insights to improve system efficiency, maintainability, and reliability across offshore facilities
Qualification
- 10+ years of experience in ICSS design and implementation
- Demonstrated experience supporting FPSO projects across Concept, FEED, Detailed Engineering, Procurement, Commissioning, and Start-Up phases
- Strong technical expertise in Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS/ESD), Fire & Gas (F&G) Systems, ICSS architecture, and control system configuration and programming.
- Solid understanding of process control, instrumentation, and safety standards (IEC 61511)
- Ability to work independently and handle complex design tasks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and stakeholder management
- Experience supporting project delivery within scope, schedule, and budget
- Fluent in English
