Position Overview
The Senior Telecommunications Designer is responsible for executing detailed telecommunications design and drafting activities for FPSO, FLNG and offshore facility projects throughout Concept, FEED and EPCI phases. The role develops telecommunications layouts, cable routing, installation details and design documentation in accordance with Company, Client, Class and international standards, ensuring designs are safe, practical, constructible and maintainable.
The Senior Telecommunications Designer works closely with Telecommunications Engineers and multidisciplinary design teams to produce high-quality design deliverables, supports procurement, construction and commissioning activities, and provides technical guidance to junior designers.
Telecommunications Engineering includes all communication, navigation, safety, security and information systems associated with FPSO, FLNG and offshore facilities.
Key Responsibility
- Prepare telecommunications design deliverables such as layouts, diagrams, cable schedules, equipment lists, and installation details for assigned scope
- Execute telecommunications design and drafting activities throughout Concept, FEED and EPCI project phases
- Develop design documents in accordance with project specifications, Company, Client, Class, Flag State requirements, applicable international codes and standards
- Support preparation of telecommunications equipment data, MTOs, design input/output documents
- Coordinate equipment locations, cable routing, installation requirements, and telecommunications system interfaces with other disciplines including Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Marine, Hull, HVAC to ensure design consistency and proper interface alignment
- Review comments from internal reviewers, clients, and vendors and incorporate approved changes into deliverables
- Support vendor document review and technical clarification activities
- Participate in model reviews, 3D model development, interdisciplinary checks, constructability reviews, and clash resolution activities and design meetings as required

Ensure telecommunications equipment is arranged to provide safe installation, operation, inspection, and maintenance throughout the facility life cycle
- Maintain drawing quality, document traceability, and revision control in accordance with project procedures
- Follow, support and improve engineering procedures, standard templates, drawing/drafting standards and quality requirements throughout the design process, while providing guidance to junior designers and CAD personnel
- Assist in resolving routine design issues and support site, fabrication, construction, commissioning, offshore installation, and handover activities by providing timely design support, drawing revisions, and responses to technical queries where needed
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical, Electronics, or a related engineering discipline
- Minimum 8 years of telecommunications design experience in the offshore oil & gas industry.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with a leading FPSO, FLNG or Offshore EPC contractor.
- Good knowledge of offshore telecommunications systems and related engineering deliverables
- Understanding of EPC engineering workflow, design review process, and multidisciplinary project environment
- Working familiarity with AutoCAD, Smart 3D (S3D), E3D, MicroStation or equivalent 2D/3D design software and relevant engineering/document management tools
- Ability to interpret specifications, vendor data, and engineering instructions accurately
- Familiarity with Company, Client, Class, Flag State and applicable international codes and standards.
- Experience supporting construction and commissioning activities is advantageous.
- Good coordination, communication, and document preparation skills
- Fluent in spoken and written English
